CANAL+ Group is thus pursuing its development strategy in Rwanda, a country where it has been present for 10 years, with a subsidiary CANAL+RWANDA established in 2020. Indeed, in addition to its commercial activities, the Group aims to launch soon an entertainment TV channel 100% in Kinyarwanda that will promote all Rwandan talents and productions. This acquisition allows CANAL+ Group to significantly strengthen its audio-visual activities in Rwanda by benefiting from a large content offer of more than 500 hours of new films and TV series produced per year and a catalogue of 700 hours, all in Kinyarwanda. ZACU Entertainment was created in 2017 by Wilson Misago, writer and producer of a successful TV series and founder of Rwanda’s first video-on-demand platform in 2019. Speaking on the acquisition Fabrice Faux, Chief Content Officer of CANAL+ says, ” “We are very pleased to welcome ZACU entertainment and its teams within the Group. Rwanda has many assets for audio-visual content production in several languages. Like our commitment in French-speaking Africa and more recently in Ethiopia, this acquisition marks our will to associate the best creative talents with our development in Africa and abroad, but also our will to produce content acclaimed by our subscribers at the highest level of quality.” With production companies PLAN A in Ivory Coast, ROK STUDIOS in Nigeria and now ZACU Entertainment, the Group reiterates its commitment to support audio-visual production on the African continent to offer quality content that meets its subscribers’ expectations. Wilson Misago, CEO of ZACU Entertainment says, “I’m very excited to continue the journey with CANAL+ Group. We all have the same vision of providing the best quality content to our beloved audience. Rwanda has enormous talent and many ground-breaking stories yet to be told. Through the support of both CANAL+ Group and ZACU Entertainment, it’s time to take made-in-Rwanda content to the world! “,
