Creators will be unable to post new episodes to Facebook’s podcast service this week since the company has announced that the site will cease on June 3rd, just a year after its introduction. The firm announced a re-evaluation of its audio products, as well as the closure of its Soundbites and Audio hubs, as well as the integration of its live-streaming Live Audio Rooms, feature into its larger Facebook Live suite. According to Facebook spokesperson Adelaide Coronado, the adjustments will “simplify” the company’s audio capabilities. “After a year of learning and iterating on audio-first experiences, we’ve decided to simplify our suite of audio tools on Facebook,” said Coronado. “We’re constantly evaluating the features we offer so we can focus on the most meaningful experiences.” According to reports, this service will soon be integrated into Facebook Live, allowing users to choose an audio-only broadcast if desired.
