The latest from the company is the time based internet plan designed and launch specifically for streaming of videos on YouTube. The YouTube Video Streaming data plan was not announced officially by MTN but many users and subscribers of the network have reported to have received a notification in the form of a SMS from the telco company notifying them of a new internet plan – YouTube pack. On further investigation, it was obtained that the newly introduced YouTube plan comes in two types or categories and all users on the “Yellow” network can subscribe to the plan irrespective of the tariff a user is currently on, or moves to. All that is required is a MTN SIM card, a data enabled device and; N150 for 1 hour of YouTube videos streaming access and, N400 for 3 hours of YouTube videos streaming access. To activate the YouTube video pack; Dial 13181#, or alternatively, Text VP1 to 131 for 1 hour of video streaming. Dial 13182#, or alternatively, Text VP3 to 131 for 3 hours of video streaming. These plans are enticing and quite affordable. However, there’s one important thing to note. The MTN YouTube pack though based on time, are not unlimited. They are capped at specific volume. The 1 hour streaming plan gives you 750 MB while the 3 hours plan gives 2.25 GB of data to stream as much videos as it permits under 180 minutes. This YouTube pack follows other app or website based internet plan from MTN. The South Africa based Telco company have in the past introduced app specific data plans like the WhatsApp bundle, Facebook bundle, WeChat, 2GO, Eskimi, Nimbuzz, Twitter and Instagram data bundle. What do you think of the newly introduced MTN YouTube pack? Do you find the price affordable? What about the data caps? Yay or Nay?
