The Nokia C30 is no different from the C20 device we reviewed a couple of days ago, starting with the adaptive display. It would be better if the manufacturer could pack the 90HZ display rate on this gadget. With the C30, however, you have a built-in battery, but you would still have to remove the back lid to insert the SIM cards & and maybe expandable storage. Let us take a look at the technical specs of the C30 gadget

Something else that caught my attention is the price difference between the Nokia C20 and the Nokia C30. The Nokia C20  ranges between KES(11,000 to 13,000) while the latter takes from KES(13,000 to 14,0000). Obviously, this depends on your retailer. The slight price difference between the two devices still makes me question whether there is much difference between them, especially when considering what they have to put on the table.

Design

The Green roughy polycarbonate coating is a magnet that will make your hands be constantly attracted to the gadget while ensuring at the same time that no prints are seen. I won’t mention how often I have had my hands on the device without seeing its surface having any dirt, which makes me appreciate its appealing design even further. The volume rockers and the Power on/off button can be found on the right-hand side of the device. Nokia would have done a recommendable job if the  Google assistant button could have been fitted on the left-hand side. Still, all the same, we have a reason to smile with the Fingerprints reader that can be located on the rear of the device, something that is still lacking in the C20 device. Still, we have a piece of better news on the rear side: the tiny protruding camera bump houses two primary lenses (13MP main camera & the 2MP depth lenses). Moving towards the bottom of the same side, you will find a single speaker. Some will celebrate for one reason or another that just like the Nokia C20, the manufacturer here also incorporated the 3.5 mm jack at the top of the device. On the bottom, we have the Micro-USB(2.0) charging port. Design-wise, there is no fault here, especially when considering that it is an entry-level device. In my opinion, it looks pretty Chic.

Screen

Much Like the C20 handset, the C30 panel uses IPS LCD technology which I can not complain about because of its Good viewing angles. “Maybe.”The screen is 6.82 inches for the 20:9 pixel ratio. The vibrant screen colors are acceptable for surfing the net or enjoying your favorite content online; however, in some instances, the screen is not that responsive enough, especially when running heavy applications. Thanks to Nokia’s kindness, the screen is already fitted with a screen protector that can easily be spotted whether the smartphone is on or off.

Software and Performance

The Nokia C30 is an entry-level device. Thus, there are not many expectations that both you and I should expect to see from the Benchmark results. Like the C20 handset here, many pre-installed Google lite applications can be barely installed. Switching between these applications is more manageable, and one doesn’t experience some lagging over time, maybe because of lite applications tiny portion of the memory. Installing more significant, more extensive applications, there is interference with the process in the background; hence you can feel some unresponsiveness in the screen. Oh, by the way, the smartphone experienced so much while running the Benchmark test, and at some points, I had to practice my utmost patience due to system UI not responding. It is clear enough that the chipset (Unisoc SC9863A) incorporated for this device is not meant for heavier actions/events. These are the results from the Benchmark

Camera and Sound

The shots on the Nokia C30 are much better than the ones on the C20. If you have something else on your mind, and then you should lower your expectations. The C30 gadget has two sensors at the back(13MP wide + 2MP  depth) and a 5MP Selfie camera. The shots using the C30 primary rear camera are detailed, but it is clear enough that when you try adjusting its zooming angle, the photos tend to lose a lot of information. For example, on the X4 zoom, you can notice that the green leaf has turned into yellow(too way saturated). The Portrait image is fine enough, only that the edges remain unclean. The sound is not that vibrant and pleasing to anyone’s ears unless you take the option of utilizing the set of earphones included in the package

Our verdict

The Nokia C30 is a variant of the Nokia C20 with more awesome and cool features, such as increased performance, better camera(wide), better display, and design. However, it is pretty heavy, and unfortunately, Nokia still has a long way to go as far as the Camera department is considered. So if you have two of the Nokia models in mind, you should decide which technical characteristics are more favorable. Of course, there is a lot of competition in Xiaomi Redmi 9C or the Infinix Hot 10i. So um, the Nokia C30 is a solid entry-level smartphone that you can put your eyes on if you don’t have any trust issues.
