Which supermarkets are currently taking over? Carrefour, Naivas and of course QuickMart which is currently closely competing with Carrefour has now taken the Tuskys space at Pioneer house in Nairobi’s central business district. Currently in CBD the biggest retailer is Naivas which holds the highest number of shops in Nairobi. QuickMart’s strategy is to target customers who work along Harambee Avenue offices. Chief operations officer Stephen Karanja spoke to Business Daily and said: “We shall be opening QuickMart Pioneer branch tomorrow (Friday) morning. The route is strategic to Nairobi’s Central railway station terminus which has the right traffic flow,” The sad transition. While Tuskys closed down several of their branches QuickMark will be opening their 38th branch in the country and its third outlet in Nairobi CBD. While Tuskys is currently dealing with debt and issues with their suppliers, QuickMart has created 100 job for their employees. The store will provide employment to about 100 workers in Nairobi. The expansion by QuickMart comes at a time Tuskys Supermarkets is facing serious cash flow hitch that has sparked a dispute with suppliers.
