Apple may offer overclocking on its new Macs with the release of its current high-performance model; hence, the company proves you incorrect if you believe that only Linux and Windows are capable of overclocking. However, this feature will only be available on the Macbook Pro 16″ with an M1 Max. According to our MacRumors colleagues on the other side of the Atlantic, the M1 Max will offer a “boost” option. The current version of the macOS Monterey beta’s source has a reference to the mode. Even though you’ll have to wait till you get your hands on the Macbooks to see how this mode is used, it’s easy to imagine extended periods of 8K video editing, Xcode compilation, or even gaming triggering it. Apple intends to achieve just that with its new Macbook ventilation system, which will run at full speed to compensate for the temperature increase. Apple’s new Macbook Pros address many of the shortcomings of prior models, and the ventilation is excellent. While it’s inconvenient that this high-performance option is limited to the large-format Macbook Pro, it’s the only one that can accomplish it safely. From 2016 through 2020, Apple fixed the cooling issue with its Macbook Pros, which required running the fans at full speed to keep the i7 and i9 processors cool.
