Will.i.am is the brand ambassador of AMG and is previously known to craft custom cars from Tesla, Corvette and even the Volkswagen Beetle among others. His latest creation was a collaboration project with Mercedes AMG but the crafting was done by West Coast Customs. Will.i.AMG is based on a Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, but it now has two suicide doors that are rear-opening. The front is borrowed from the Mercedes G Wagon including the lights and grille. The windows and wheels have also been redesigned. No changes were made on the AMG engine. According to Will.i.am, he didn’t touch the engine because in his opinion AMG makes “the best engines.” If the engine comes from the new GT 63S E Performance 4-Door Coupe plug-in hybrid, then it will have an output of 843 hp. There will be a six-part documentary called “Drive’ detailing how the Will.i.AMG was built, it will make its premiere during the 2022 Cannes Film Festival later this month. All activities surrounding the Will.i.AMG project will go to benefit Will.i.am’s i.am/Angel Foundation in its support of promoting and improving access to education especially in technical STEM subjects for disadvantaged communities.
