YouTube will help African content creators grow their channels and enhance their abilities by providing virtual and in-person training and workshops. These include a Creator 360 virtual workshop that will allow African content producers to interact and exchange talents, as well as in-person Creator Day workshops conducted by industry experts that will help prospective creators develop the skills they need to continue thriving on YouTube. YouTube will also hold seminars through its Future Insiders Program to provide hands-on instruction from seasoned producers such as Sarz and Musa Keys to aspiring producers and songwriters. “We’re incredibly proud at YouTube to provide a platform that shares Africa’s creativity with the rest of the world. From music, fashion, and beauty to the latest trending movements, YouTube plays an important role in the emergence and expression of Africa’s unique cultural stories to local and global audiences. By commemorating Africa Month through these impactful initiatives, we continue to spotlight, and elevate the work of creators and artists who are at the forefront of the continent’s creative explosion”, says Alex Okosi, YouTube EMEA’s Managing Director of Emerging Markets. The YouTube Africa Day Concert, in collaboration with Idris Elba, will return as part of the Africa Month lineup for the third year in a row. The concert will involve a live-streamed in-person event in Nigeria with some of the continent’s hottest musicians. The concert will once again mark Africa Day by showcasing African culture via music. YouTube’s long-standing dedication to the African creator industry can be seen in programs like the #YouTubeBlackVoices Funds and the YouTube Shorts Fund, a $100 million fund aimed to reward creators who create creative and unique Shorts for their efforts.  Earlier this year, 26 creators from Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa were among 135 from around the world that took part in the 2022 edition of the #YouTubeBlackvoices creation class. The creators receive seed funding as well as dedicated support to help them grow their channels and flourish on YouTube. The YouTube NextUp program, which focuses on offering access to learning through one-on-one coaching, workshops, and tools, was recently introduced to accelerate the growth of many successful creators around the region. The events are intended to reaffirm YouTube’s commitment to growing Africa’s creator ecosystem and to spotlight and celebrate the artists and creatives who are driving the growth of Afrobeats and Africa’s music industry. YouTube continues to provide a platform for African creators who are committed to creating global audiences while simultaneously building a business and generating money.
